The parents of aspiring golfer Charlie Woods put aside their past to mark his commitment to play collegiate golf at Florida State University.

A notable family gathering took place recently as Charlie Woods, the son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, celebrated his commitment to play collegiate golf. Both his father and mother, Elin Nordegren, whose divorce had previously garnered significant media attention, were present for the special event.
Charlie Woods had announced his decision to join the Florida State University golf program earlier in the year. The celebration, held at Charlie's high school, brought together the Woods family, including Tiger's ex-wife, Nordegren.
Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren finalized their divorce after details of the golfer's infidelity became public.
Confirming his commitment in February, Charlie shared his excitement, stating, "Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!"
His father, Tiger Woods, publicly congratulated him, commenting, "Congratulations Charlie. I'm so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life."
A Rare Public Appearance Amidst Personal Challenges
This family event marked one of Tiger Woods' infrequent public appearances since his arrest in March. He was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence following a car crash. Authorities later discovered hydrocodone pills in his possession. This incident represented his second DUI charge within a decade.
During field sobriety tests, Woods informed law enforcement officials that he had undergone seven back surgeries and more than 20 operations on his leg, and that he was taking "a few" prescription medications.
Shortly after the arrest, Woods publicly stated he was seeking professional treatment. Reports indicated that Nordegren was "concerned" following her former husband's arrest.
Uncertainty Surrounds Woods' Return to Golf
The timeline for Tiger Woods' return to professional golf remains undetermined. He has not competed since the 2024 Open Championship. Following his March arrest, he had expressed a hope to participate in April's Masters tournament, but ultimately sat out the entire 2026 season.
